Pillars Of Creation

An eclectic painting about a no less eclectic phenomenon called creation.

A Greek or Roman pillar. Humans use to seek it high. What we worship is on a height.

Pillars of Creation. These pillar shaped clouds are the maternity room for stars. A source of creation.

Jesus. Timeless.

Mustard seed. Contains the universe. Such a small seed growing into such a large tree.

Elon Musk. Superman? Holy man? Is it a man? A created man. Created by man.

Ellen Ripley (watch Alien). Creates creatures. A Maria who gives birth to a devil.

The David. Created in the Old Testament and visualized Michelangelo. Beauty, protector, killer.

Monolith. Created by Clarke and visualized by Kubrick. Brute force.

Horse. Created by Dalí (“The Temptation of Saint Anthony”). Represents the Devil.

Sunflower. Looking for the sun.

Pyramid. Just a tombstone.

Men gone. Fights its fading away.

Men reborn. Gains strength while waiting for its moment.

Meanwhile, the Earth is burning.

The story evolved.

I was painting a baby on a pillar with mom and dad sitting on the ground. It became a shaky story - renaissance style baby with a red cape - and so Elon Musk came into the picture.

It started innocent and comical, with his hand opening the sky with a zipper. But that's a meager message. The sky was opened up already. It got more power when I realized that Musk is made by men. Back being a baby.

Or is he - it? - an alien? The fruit of Ellen Riply (Maria) and a space monster (evil/devil).

I gave him this cross in his hand. It's an X. Before X (but after Space X, so the X was lingering before it got prominent). Together with the aureole it spells OX. Or: ox.

The wood cross is the one that Saint Anthony holds up to stop the parade led by the devil. In Dalí's painting it works. In my painting, Musk has taken away the cross to give the devil and his entourage a free pass.

Because that's what happening. We want good but we get evil. That's how the universe works.

Mankind wants to make beautil things on burning ground. Nothing is new, especially knowledge. Still, we act as if every generation invents the wheel. And that's also how it is, it's part of the circle of life. Main difference, and lucky enough for our generation, we can Twitter about it. Oh no, the bird is dead in the sky.

X is opposed to O. It blocks the circle. Musk is obstruction and destruction, wrapped and decorated as progress.
